Queer Feminist Collective

Queer Feminist Collective

Created in May 2022 with the objective of recognizing the concerns of students belonging to gender and sexual minorities and encouraging a discourse around feminist concerns in the campus, the Queer-Feminist Collective has 3 visions to fulfill: to create a safe space and a support group for queer students, to represent feminist concerns, and to encourage the discourse of allyship. Since its inception, it has conducted a myriad of activities and events with the intention of community-building and generating awareness. Working without a rigid hierarchical and essentially democratic structure, the collective has organized several guest seminars and documentary screenings. It also regularly conducts listening circles and intra-collective events to ensure that the collective remains a safe space for LGBTQIA+ students of the college.

In 2024-25, QFC conducted webinars, film screenings, and open discussions. Screening of a video essay by Abigail Thorn focusing on social constructs was held in November 2024, examining concepts such as identity, gender, and race through a metaphysical lens. The session prompted rich discussion around the fluidity of these constructs, their influence on politics and justice, and the scope for societal transformation through critical reflection. In February 2025, QFC collaborated with the B. A. Programme Association to conduct an Art Therapy Workshop facilitated by Piyush Jain, Founder of Art Adventures Studio, and his team. The workshop offered participants across departments a unique opportunity to explore expressive art therapy, enabling them to connect with their emotions and inner selves through creativity and visual expression.
